Switchfoot will kick off 2010 with a performance on CBS’ “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” show on Monday, January 4th. Later that week, they will be one of two groups playing at ESPN’s National Championship Tailgate show, which will take place at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, CA just before the Alabama Crimson Tide take on the Texas Longhorns in the Citi BCS National Championship Game on January 7th.
This is a great way for them to start off the New Year after having HUGE success with their new project “Hello Hurricane.” They’ve been playing all the songs from it live and in order to sold-out crowds since early November. Their North American “Hello Hurricane” tour has been extended through January.
“Mess Of Me,” the lead single from “Hello Hurricane”, is being used in the trailer and television commercials for Samuel Goldwyn’s Films’ “To Save A Life,” which will be released on January 22nd. This track has also been tapped for use by NHL Music Nights on Fox Sports Net and by ESPN for college football bumpers.
Numerous other tracks from the project have been licensed – “The Sound (John M. Perkins’ Blues)” was used in the recent Verizon Wireless ad campaign for the BlackBerry® Storm™ 2 while “Bullet Soul” was selected for WWE’s “TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs” pay-per-view. “Yet” was heard in The CW’s new hit show, “The Vampire Diaries,” while the network’s “One Tree Hill” used six minutes of the epic “Your Love Is A Song” to close a recent episode.
I think it’s safe to say that Switchfoot is glad to be independent and free from their major label deal. It’s going to be one busy New Year for the boys from San Diego, CA. What’s your favorite track from “Hello Hurricane?” Let us know which one and why in the comment box below.
